Recently purchased a 2012 E350 Diesel Manor.

Noticed that the engine temperature runs between 50 to 65 degrees which seems depression to me. I'd have thought this would exist up around 85 to 90 degrees.

Can anyone ostend my assumptions are right and if so and so is this only changing the sensor and would that exist covered under Warranty?

I know the 320 and 250 and 280 run at ninety so I assume your too low ,
And if I were you and purchased from trade lately I would say they would have to correct this . Whatever trader selling a car every bit long as yous did not sign a sold as seen has to give a min 3 mths warranty whether they like it or not .

And if I were you lot and purchased from merchandise lately I would say they would accept to correct this . Any trader selling a car as long as you lot did not sign a sold equally seen has to requite a min iii mths warranty whether they like information technology or not .
The car came with a 12 month Mercedes Warranty [to December 2016] so simply wanted to check what people recall before I phone them up.

I'd certainly say its low simply iirc the 350 euro6 runs a trivial cooler than other things, when I took a bulldoze in 1 a few weeks ago information technology seemed to sit down at fourscore rather than 90, See what others say every bit I could exist wrong.

Modern automotive diesels engines should ideally run circa 90C to obtain optimum efficiency. BMW 3.0d six cylinder engines suffer with their stats 'going off' resulting in reduced running temps, this in turn can atomic number 82 to other issues such as failed DPF regens, leading to expensive bills. However, AFAIK BMW have never admitted to this problem and don't replace low running stats under any warranty. So if your E350 CDI is running low temps go it fixed ASAP.

It would exist very interesting to hear MB's accept on this and if they do ready under warranty??

Yes, mine sits a fraction over 80C, although information technology is difficult to get a direct on view on the gauge due to the cycle. It gets to that within nigh five miles of driving fifty-fifty on frosty mornings.

I would like to know what the design operating temp should be if anyone knows for certain.

Kinda on topic ...... I had the thermostat changed on EmilysMum'southward Citroën C3 the other twenty-four hours. I'd expected it to be a standard waxstat but it'due south an ECU controled motorised thing.
Has Mercedes gone down that road notwithstanding?

All of mercedes thermostats cut in at 87ºC or higher so the engines should exist at 90ºC. Running at only 60ºC the car volition exist thirsty and the heater not very effective.

I would take thought the same, just ...
I found the thermostat in my recently acquired S204 200cdi was inop, with temperatures fluctuating as I drove between xl and lxx degrees. Fuel consumption was a blank 38mpg. I inverse the stat, the car now runs at a steady 90degrees, and the consumption has not improved, no matter how plume footed I am.

Admittedly correct information technology should sit down at 85C and it gets to that quite quickly, mine does and as already said within 5-10 mins dependant on outside temp

Resurrecting a thread from almost 1 year ago as I used the search facility!

My E350 appears to be running a fleck colder than information technology used to, but not by a lot. I used the live information functionality of my iCarSoft i980 over the weekend and the Engine Coolant Temp varies between 79C and 82C when driving.

Is this a sign that the thermostat is on the way out or would it be considered within normal tolerance?

How difficult are they to supercede on the E350? I've not fifty-fifty looked to see where it is!

The 350 cdi should run at 92deg. mine slowly dropped from 92 to 50 over vi months and over winter. The thermostat has a rubber diaphragm betwixt the moving plunger and the thermostat torso. this perishes and forms small holes. As the holes get bigger and so the running temp gets lower. The only option is to replace the unit. Stealer toll to do it is around £500 !! on the upwards side my MPG improved by an average of half dozen and the inside is really warm :)

You can buy a replacement stat online from the likes of Mercedes Benz of Newcastle for circa £130. It looks a adequately simple job to replace as it's on top of the engine, or get your nearest indy to do information technology.

Mine seems to sit down at eighty with fluctuation to ninety and a tad under 80 depending on driving conditions. Boondocks traffic closer to xc. Crusising downhill no or fiddling throttle around 80, sometimes a little under. Mercedes are saying normal.
